Canada’s last recession dented the fortunes of the country’s richest 1%, while the gap between that group and the rest of the country widened over the past two decades, government tax data show.
The incomes of the top 1% of taxpayers equalled 10.6% of the national total in 2010, after growing from 7% in the early 1980s to a peak of 12.1 Air Max % in 2006, Statistics Canada said Monday.
However, that top 1% also paid 21.2% of all federal and provincial or territorial income t Air Max axes, down from the peak of 23.3% in 2007, but up from 13.4% in 1982.
