A man with more than $12,000 cash on him and 50 pounds of marijuana worth $65,000 in his home was arrested following a foot chase, deputies said Saturday.
According to a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s arrest report, deputies developed information that Emory Lawson, 25, of Riverview, was distributing marijuana and had him under surveillance.
He left his home in the 13200 block of Prestwick Drive on Saturday afternoon allegedly carrying a green bag.
He drove into a yard in the 12000 block of Butler Wood Circle and fled from the vehicle on foot, allegedly with the green bag. Lawson was found hiding in a shed. A K9 located the green bag he allegedly threw as he fled.
Deputies r Air Max eturned to Lawson’s home on Prestwick Drive and found his girlfriend, Amy Ubinas, 22. According to the report, she gave deputies permission to enter the home.
Deputies said they f Air Max ound 50 pounds of marijuana in three duffel bags inside a bedroom. The marijuana appeared to be packaged for distribution with 62 baggies containing a street value of $65,000, the report stated.
Lawson also had $12,497 in cash on him at the time of his arrest.
Lawson has been charged with trafficking in marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a drug Air Max house, burglary to a structure, fleeing and Air Max eluding, and reckless driving. Ubinas was charged with trafficking marijuana.
