Oakhurst pair caught with 89 heroin bags
On Feb. 7, Detectives Michael Melody and Jessie Orbach were on patrol in the area of Monmouth Road and Wells Avenue when they stopped a vehicle being operated by Ethan Haacker, 19, of the Oakhurst section of the township, police said.Following a subsequent investigation, Haacker and his front seat passenger, Eric Xenakis, 20, also of Oakhurst, were found to be in possession of 89 bags of heroin, police said.Haacker and Xenakis were arrested and taken to the Ocean Township Police Headquarters for processing and where they were both charged with Possession of Heroin. Haacker was also charged with Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance Air Max Shoes in a Motor Vehicle, police said.They were both released on complaint summonses Air Max Shoes pending a future court appearance.Approximately one hour after Haaker and Xenakis were released from police custody, the Ocean Township Police Department was alerted to a residential burglary on Lewis Street, where money and jewelry were taken, police said.A follow up investigation by Detective Sgt. John Green and Detective Bryan Morgan identified Haaker and Xenakis as being suspect Air Max Shoes s in that burglary, police said. the same day in the area of Highway 35 and West Park Avenue. Xenakis fled from the police but Officer Casey Larrison found him hiding in a basement area of the Cobblestone Village Shopping Center, police said.The jewelry stolen in the Lewis Street burglary was located in Haaker car, police said.Police believe Haaker and Xenakis committed the burglary immediately following their release from police custody.CONNECT WITH USIn addition to the drug charges earlier in the day, Haacker and Xenakis were both charged with Burgl Air Max Shoes ary and Conspiracy to Commit Burglary. Xenakis was also charged with Obstruction, Criminal Trespass and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.Bail was set by Judge Louis Garripo at $100,000 with no 10 percent option and both men were lodged in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold Township.
